Miguel Virgen
Director, Science Gallery Monterrey
Miguel González Virgen was born in 1964 in Colima, Mexico. He completed his college at Harvard University, obtaining in 1988 his Bachelor of Arts (BA) from Harvard College and in 1991 the Master of Architecture I (M Arch I) degree from the Graduate School of Design of Harvard University. In 2013, Miguel González Virgen arrived in Belgium to carry out his doctoral project at the Catholic University of Leuven (KU Leuven), where he received his PhD in Art History with the dissertation ‘Artistic Research in the Visual Arts: Definitions and the Quest for Paradigms’, an examination of the relation between the artistic and the scientific modes of research. Since 2023 he is director of Science Gallery Monterrey at the Tecnológico de Monterrey.

Carmen Ruiz
Exhibition Coordinator, Science Gallery Monterrey
Carmen Ruiz (Coahuila, Mexico,1988) studied Visual Arts at the Universidad Autónoma de Nuevo León in Monterrey, Mexico. In 2013 she obtained a Master’s degree in Arts with a specialization in printmaking from Anglia Ruskin University in Cambridge, UK, where she participated in several group exhibitions. In 2016 she received a diploma for curatorial studies. Her professional career includes seven years in one of the most important contemporary art galleries in the San Pedro Garza García area of Monterrey. Here, Carmen curated and managed over 30 exhibitions featuring mostly Latin American artists. Carmen's experience extends to involvement with the Zona MACO International Art Fair in Mexico City, as well as collaborations and consultancies for private art collectors. Currently, in addition to being an art professor at Tecnológico de Monterrey, she is the Exhibition Coordinator of Science Gallery Monterrey.

Tania Martínez Báez
Educational Projects and Communication Coordinator
Tania Martínez Báez earned a Bachelor of Arts (BA) from the University of Monterrey (UDEM) and a Master's degree in Arts from the Autonomous University of Nuevo León, Mexico. Her recent interests and research focus on the intersection of citizen science and education through art practices, public policy, and data visualization from a gender perspective.
Since 2018, she has been a member of the Ma(g)dalena International Network: Feminist Theatre of the Oppressed, which includes groups from Latin America, Africa, and Europe.
Tania has extensive experience working on art education projects for young people in museums, autonomous cultural spaces, and governmental organizations in Mexico, including the Museum of Contemporary Art of Monterrey (MARCO), Lab Cultural Ciudadano de Nuevo León (LABNL), and the Council for Culture and Arts of Nuevo León (CONARTE).
